Ex-BJP leader Jaswant Singh is fighting for his life at Army's Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi.
The 76-year-old veteran politician apparently tripped and fell down at his residence last night and suffered deep head injuries following which we was rushed to the hospital at once. He underwent a head surgery late last night and his condition is believed to be very, very critical now.
The ex-defence minister of India, who has also served as External Affairs and Finance Minister, is currently in ICU. He is under the observation of neurosurgeons and critical care specialists.
Mr Singh, one of the founder members of BJP, was expelled from the party earlier this year after he decided to contest for the 16th LS Polls from Barmer. He fought the elections independently, but lost the game to the BJP candidate Sonaram Chaudhary, a former Congress MLA.
Veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani were among the first few to visit Mr Singh in the hospital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi too called up Mr Singh's family this morning and prayed for his speedy recovery.
Mr Singh, who is considered close to Mr Vajpayee and Mr Advani, had to leave the party early for his comment on Pakistan founder Mohammed Ali Jinnah, but returned to the party after being coaxed by Mr Advani and then BJP president Nitin Gadkari.
We too pray for the speedy recovery of Jaswant Singh.
