What's with the world? In what can be dubbed as a true-blue exercise in sadism and cruelty, a French father mercilessly beat up his month old infant and posted a picture of the baby's bruised face on Facebook with the caption “pour s'amuser” (just for a laugh). Can you believe that?

The man apparently, vexed by his child's incessant wails, hit the poor baby black and blue before posting a snapshot of the child on Facebook. Later, the man accepted being violent towards his child who is suspected to have suffered critical brain injuries.

The incident came to light on Monday when one of the couple's friend saw the baby's “abnormal” pic on Facebook and at once alerted the local police.

When they summoned the mother for interrogation, they discovered that the injuries were even worse than appeared on the snapshot and immediately called upon the paramedics. The mother revealed that she was too scared to report the matter to police as she feared her partner might leave her.

The man has been arrested and the couple has been booked for “violence against a minor causing permanent incapacity.”

The baby is said to have bled on the brain and doctors fear that he might have suffered neurological damage although it's too early to affirm anything.

The couple are in their early 20s and unemployed and are currently out on bail. The baby is being treated in the hospital.
