Reports about Shiv Sena MPs allegedly force feeding a Muslim supervisor at the Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi has sent shock waves through political circles. The staffer was on fast and forced to eat a chapati by Shiv Sena's parliamentarians at the Sadan last week.

Senior Shiv Sena MP Anant Geete told the Speaker, amidst the din of the opposition members, that the Lok Sabha needs to know the truth in the "holy month of Ramzan".

Geete, who is the Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, said that Shiv Sena MPs have been facing several inconveniences at the Maharashtra Sadan. The MPs had actually gone to inform the resident commissioner about their inconveniences and that all allegations against the Shiv Sena leaders were "untrue".

Controversy erupted soon after an English newspaper published a report on Wednesday highlighting that 11 Shiv Sena MPs had allegedly forced a Muslim catering supervisor, who was on fast, to eat a chapati. The Sena parliamentarians were apparently angry at not being served Maharashtrian food.

Later a video emerged, that showed Shiv Sena MP Rajan Vichare force-feeding the supervisor named Arshad. The footage of Arshad, the catering service manager of Maharastra Sadan, was shown is several TV channels.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, while trying to do damage control, said that the whole thing was an attempt to silence them. Thackeray defended the MPs saying that they didn't intend to hurt the religious feelings of anyone.

Senior BJP leader LK Advani also disapproved the alleged action of Shiv Sena MPs saying it was wrong.
