Esther Anuhya murder case is finally solved, thanks to Pramod Thomre, a porter at Kurla station in Mumbai. He helped the Mumbai police to crack the complex case.

Mumbai police had been running from pillar to post trying to find out the killers of Esther Anuhya. The police was clueless as to who was involved in the brutal murder of the 23-year-old techie, who disappeared from Kurla's Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) after deboarding a train from Vijaywada on January 5.

The police only had one clue - a CCTV footage of a man with moustache walking ahead of the victim with her bag in his hand.

Thomre, along with other porters in Kurla's LTT, had been detained and questioned by the Kurla Government Railway Police (GRP) regarding clues to the Esther Anuhya case. He identified the prime murder suspect as being Chandrakant Sanap, who worked as a porter six years ago. According to Thomre, two years ago Sanap sold his badge.

Final Search

It was Pramod Thomre who revealed that at present Sanap is at Kanjurmarg. Thomre was not directly in touch with Sanap, but knew about his whereabouts through common friends.

Police realised that Sanap's location and the place where Esther Anuhya's partially burnt dead body was found were close by. So they searched for Sanap, but didn't get any leads. So Thomre took upon himself to locate Sanap.

The Kurla porter investigated and found that Sanap was a native of Nashik. He passed on the information without any delay to the GRP who nabbed Sanap by assigning a special team.

Seven days ago Sanap was caught by the Kurla GRP, but he was allowed to leave as they did not have his call detail records (CDR) on the day Anuhya was murdered.

The Kanjurmarg police was asked for Sanap's call records, said Shivaji Dhumal, senior police inspector, Kurla GRP. However, there was no response, so Sanap could not be arrested, Dhumal added. The accused has been sent to the Crime Branch for further questioning.

Pramod Thomre has been the saving grace for Mumbai police. He not only helped to identify Esther Anuhya's murderer, but also provided valuable information that assisted the cops in nabbing Sanap.
