Lavishly decked up with gleaming fairy lights, shiny balls, tinkling bells streamers, crosses and cotton snowmen, here is one Christmas tree that stands out and stands tallest in the country.

At a mind blowing height of 56 feet (same as a five-storeyed building), the Pine Conifer stands as the tallest Christmas tree in India. It has entered the record books as India's tallest, fully decorated, natural growing Christmas Tree in Adarsh Nagar, a private society in Worli, south-central Mumbai.

"I have been nurturing it the past 40 years. Earlier, my sister Twila used to help me out, but after her death in June 2005, I have been doing it," said a proud Douglas Saldanha, the owner of the tallest Christmas Tree.

The Saldanhas' acquired the five feet tree then for a paltry sum of Rs.250 from one of their neighbors way back. “This was peanuts considering Christmas Trees cost heavily in the markets," Saldanha said, pointing towards the the tree growing straight to the skies, with the lowest branches spreading out to around 10 feet.

Meanwhile, the 18th Bradesco Seguros Christmas Tree - the world’s largest floating Christmas tree, according to the Guinness Book of Records in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is attracting throng of tourists.

Weighing 542 tons and is 85 meters high, the tree equivalent to the size of a 28-story building, is one illuminated megastructure, brightened up with 3.1 million tiny lights, 120,000 meters of luminous tubing and 100 LED reflectors.
