Seeking an early settlement on the Kashmir issue, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif hinted that if the differences weren't resolved between India and Pakistan at the earliest, it could trigger a fourth war between the two nations very soon.

Sharif, who was on a brief visit to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Tuesday, was quoted saying that that he too dreams of a free Indian Kashmir and hopes to resolve the big issue as per the aspirations of the people and UN resolution. However, if a stand isn't taken soon enough, the two nations could be at the brink of another war.

It's also heard that Sharif blamed India for indulging in the arms race. "We were drawn into arms race by India. If we had a choice, we could have diverted these expenditures to the social sector uplift and eradication of poverty," he said during the 'Azad Jammu & Kashmir Council' .

However, Pakistan on Wednesday lashed back at the media, rubbishing the media report as "incorrect" and "baseless".

The PMO clearly denied mentioning an impending war.

"Prime Minister of Pakistan never uttered these words and the news item is baseless, incorrect and based on malafide intentions,” a statement issued by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif office read.
