Nagarjuna Turns 60! 5 Movies of Forever Young Star You Shouldn’t Miss

Tollywood superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna turns 60 today and needless to say even now he is as fit as a flea and look boyish despite being a father of two grownup stars - Akkineni Naga Chaitanya and Akkineni Akhil.

In the career spanning over 50 years, Nagarjuna embraced virtually all the genres and roles from romcom like Manmadhudu to a devotional film like Annamayya.  

So far Nagarjuna acted in over 90 films and among them below are five far-out performances of him that you should definitely not miss!

Geethanjali (1989)

Though Nagarjuna did a good deal of romantic roles, nothing can match his performance in Geethanjali, directed by Mani Ratnam. This flick has a beautiful storyline and wonderful songs and beyond any doubt, Nagarjuna is a treat to watch in this tragic love story.

Shiva (1990)

Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, Shiva, a nail-biting thriller film even now after 29 years stands out as the best film in Nagarjuna’s career. The actor’s awe-worthy performance in this most intense and grittiest film made on college rowdyism is second to none.  

Hello Brother (1994)

Directed by E.V.V. Satyanarayana, Nagarjuna’s performance in Hello Brother as a hushed and simultaneously an aggressive man leads the show.

Annamayya (1997)

Nagarjuna being an actor with massive stardom didn’t take a backstep to do devotional movies. In Annamayya, the actor played the 15th-century composer, Annamacharya. He excelled the character effortlessly as a saint. Annamayya became one of the biggest hits of the superstar.

Manam (2014)

Directed by Vikram Kumar, Manam movie stars almost everyone in the actor’s family from Akkineni Nageshwara Rao to son Akhil Akkineni. This family drama has Nageswara Rao and son Naga Chaitanya playing the main leads while Nagarjuna as the man who is trying to reunite the lookalike of his dead parents simultaneously sorting out his twisted love story.
