Indian alternatives to TikTok- Chingari and Mitron see surge in downloads:

2 desi alternatives for TikTok- Chingari and Mitron have seen massive surge in downloads after the government banned TikTok and 58 other China based apps.

TikTok has been banned by the Indian government. The Boycott of China products and apps movement has been going on for a few months now. Taking this opportunity, two software developers from India launched apps which are a similar alternative to TikTok.

Chingari which is a relatively new app had crossed 1 Million downloads on Google play store in just a couple of months. The app also registered a surge of more than 500,000 downloads in the last 72 hours. This hike happened after the announcement of ban on TikTok.

Sumit Ghosh who is the co-founder of Chingari and also the Chief Product officer of the Chingari App revealed that the app saw a hike of 100,000 downloads per hour after the ban of TikTok. Because of a lot of accessibility the app also had some server issues and the founder tweeted that the servers are running fine now.

Chingari along with other internet companies praised the government on the ban of 59 apps from China. Ghosh expressed his excitement saying this is a good step by Government and the Information Technology Ministry of India, ‘TikTok has been spying on users and sending back the data to China,’ Ghosh had said in a statement.

He also appealed to the users of TikTok saying they should join the app and try Chingari which is a 100% Indian based app.

Another alternative to TikTok is the Mitron appwhich was launched during the Boycott China movement in mid-April. The app has already crossed one crore downloads on Google play store.

Though Mitron got into a controversy in the first week of June and was pulled off by Google play store as it did not comply with the policies of Google play store.

After the remodeling of the website and new privacy policy, Mitron was allowed on the Google Play store within 3 days of its removal. Mitrons’ code was purchased from Pakistani developer Qboxus. Irfan Sheikh who is the CEO of this Pakistan based source developer said that the creators of Mitron did not change anything but just the name. The Pakistan name of this app is TicTic.

Shibank Agarwal and Anish Khandelwal are the creators of Mitron and are not explaining the Pakistani angle to the app by downplaying it and calling it an app of Indian origin.

The creators have just aid that they are working to create a more India centric product and enhance the initiative vocal for local. In some initiate news, the creators of Mitron have said that they ought the MitronTv template from an Australian marketplace.

Mitron has already been involved in controversies and there have been bugs and security related issues with the app as well. One another threat for Mitron is the Chingari app and also that a huge video streaming platform called Zee5 is all to launch another alternative for TikTok on a higher scale.

Some banned apps are still listed on Google play store but TikTok has been vanished completely.
