The Reliance Jio telecom operator has launched voice over video and voice which will now enable the users to make voice and video calls using WiFi networks. The users can use any WiFi network for Jio WiFi calling at no additional cost.
The service supports over 150 handset models and can use any WiFi network across India, said the company in an official release. It is said that the service will be enabled pan-India between January 7 and January 16, 2020.
It has been claimed that in order to provide enhanced voice and video calling, the switching over between VoLTE and Wi-Fi for the voice and video calls will be observed.
Airtel will also be starting its VoWiFi service pan-India and it works with all the WiFi networks, said sources. This service of airtel is currently available in few states like Delhi,Mumbai, Kolkata, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, UP (West and East), Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
“At this juncture, when an average Jio consumer uses over 900 minutes of voice calls every month, and at a growing base of consumers, the launch of Jio Wi-Fi Calling will further enhance every Jio consumer’s voice-calling experience, which is already a benchmark for the industry with India’s-first all VoLTE network,” said the Director of Jio, Akash Ambani.
