Seems the hackers have started a new trend of crashing the message apps with nasty bugs. Just a week after a text crashed Apple devices running iOS, a new bug discovered on Skype. Eight letter syntax crashes the recipients’ Skype, when received. Deleting the Chat History won’t work either as Skype download chat history from server, and when it spots the troublesome characters, it will crash again. One needs to reinstall the application and to your worse, that also won’t solve the problem at times.

Microsoft assigned the bug to VentureBeat. Now VentureBeat is working on it and will come up with a solution sooner. To the surprise, users running Skype for Android, Windows, and iOS experienced the problem, while those using touch-optimized Skype for Windows 8.1 or Skype for Mac or the touch-optimized Skype for Windows 8.1 are not affected.

VentureBeat has not announced anything about when it will be fixed yet.
