For all those who love to get themselves inked, here is a piece of invention that would save you from frittering thousands on a tattoo parlor. Not just that, it will also give you the chance to ink your own tattoo. Don't believe us? Read away to know all about it then.

A small group of three French young students have developed a 3D printer that can etch a tattoo. Yes, it's true! The ingenious men modified a MarkerBot 3D printer and augured the arrival of automatic tattoo drawing machines.

Pierre Emm, Piotr Widelka and Johan Da Silveira took up the challenge set by French's Cultural Ministry to remix images and sounds in public domain. The young guys had eight hours to make use of their digital materials and managed to hack the printer so that it could draw a perfect circle on skin, using a normal pen.

However, post the challenge too, the young men were inspired to make the tattoo machine for real and hence, borrowed one such machine from a tattoo artiste and made the robot to draw a tattoo on artificial silicone skin.

“The students explored different methods of holding the skin taut where the tattoo was planned, including a metal ring and elastic bands, but finally settled on a tube with an open area where the skin was to be marked,” writes the Daily Mail.

What more, they found out a brave volunteer eager to gain the accolade of having the first robot tattoo, Pierre Emm who etched a circle on his forearm.
