India's ace tennis player Sania Mirza stormed into the US Open women's doubles semifinals along with her Zimbabwean partner Cara Black. The doubles pair sailed through the quarterfinal match after their opponent retired midway.

Sania and third seeded Cara defeated their Kazakh-Chinese opponents Zarina Diyas and Yi-Fan Xu 6-1 1-0 (retd). The match lasted only 45 minutes. The winning pair will now play against the Swiss-Italian pair of Martina Hingis and Flavia Pennetta.

Hingis and Pennetta defeated Kveta Peschke (fifth seeds) and Katarina Srebotnik 6-4 6-3 in their last-eight match.

The match looked disbalanced from the first serve itself.

Sania will also play the semifinals in the mixed doubles event, partnering with Brazilian Bruno Soares. They defeated the partnership of Rohana Bopanna and Katarina Srebotnik 7-5 2-6 10-5. The quarterfinal match was played at Flushing Meadows on Monday.
