Indian Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has become the highest individual taxpayer in Jharkhand for the 2017-18 financial, officials in the Income Tax department said on Tuesday.
Dhoni, the Indian wicket-keeper batsman paid ₹12.17 crore income tax in 2017-18, the officials said.
They further said that Dhoni had paid ₹10.93 crore tax in 2016-17 fiscal, yet he was not the highest tax payer for that year.
According to Forbes, Dhoni is the third highest earning cricketer in India behind Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. Forbes India's list of the celebrities with highest earnings in 2017 has listed him at No.8 in the country with estimated earnings of Rs. 63.7 crore.
