On Monday at the World Athletics Championships, Lalita Babar an Indian middle and long distance runner has qualified for the women's 3,000 metres steeplechase final. The runner broke her previous record, which was also the national record, by finishing her race in 9 minutes and 27.86 seconds.

Lalita’s previous best of 9:34.13 was broken by her this time, which was also the national record in the heats. She thereby continued her impressive run. The runner clocked to secure the gold with her last record at the Asian Championships at Wuhan, China.

Lalita’s category had three heats. The middle and long distance runner she took part in Heat 2 and finished fourth. While the heats were topped by Tunisia’s Olympic silver medallist Habiba Ghribi (9:24.38), Lalita finished eighth overall.

Hailing from Satara district of Maharashtra, the Indian middle and long distance runner clinched a bronze bronze at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

On Wednesday the summit clash will happen at the iconic Bird’s Nest in which Lalita Babar will compete against 14 other women.
