Sania Mirza has become the first Indian player to win women’s doubles title at a Grand Slam. Along with Martina Hingis, she clinched the Wimbledon women’s doubles title, beating Makarova-Vesnina 5-7, 7-6, 7-5 in a thrilling final in London. A remarkable comeback was made by the top-seeded pair in the third and final set.
The mixed doubles event of the Wimbledon Championship 2015 was won by Leander Paes with legendary Martina Hingis. After a dominating win over Alexander Peya and Timea Babos, Paes clinched his 16th Grand Slam trophy. With in just 40 minutes, seventh seed Indo-Swiss pair drubbed the fifth seed Austrian-Hungarian team 6-1 6-1 in the lop-sided summit clash.
Serena Williams has defeated Garbine Muguruza and closed In on Grand Slam. The 6-4, 6-4 victory over Garbine Muguruza of Spain made the 33-year-old Williams the oldest Wimbledon singles champion of the Open era. Serena has won Wimbledon title six times now. With this victory, Serena won four straight majors for the second time.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer, the seven-time champion, in four sets to win his third Wimbledon and ninth Grand Slam title. He won 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (10-12) 6-4 6-3 against Federer.
Fourth seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau won the Wimbledon final 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 6-4 over Britain's Jamie Murray and Australian John Peers in one hour and 52 minutes.
