Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar had a miraculous escape after the car he was in met with an accident while travelling from Manchester to London on Sunday noon.

Gavaskar was returning after commentating India's fourth Test against England (that India lost by an innings and 4 runs), when his Jaguar rammed into another vehicle.

It was raining incessantly and Gavaskar, who was seated on the left back of his car, had already warned the driver to drive cautiously. No sooner the driver ignited the engine, they saw a car zooming towards them. Thanks to the driver's presence of mind, he at once swerved the car to the right. The car hit the Jaguar, damaging the hind, the same side where Gavaskar was seated. Thankfully, he and others came out of the car unscathed.

Later Gavaskar said: "My God! God has saved us. There was torrential rain and our car was being driven very fast. Thankfully, no one was hurt although the accident was very, very scary."

The occupants of the Jaguar, Gavaskar, his London based friend Chandresh Patel and English commentator Mark Nicholas, abandoned the car and walked up to East Midland Parkway railway station from where they boarded a train to London.
