In the recent times, the head honcho of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), president N. Srinivasan has batted many oppositions and allegations. But all these could never shake the tenacity of the Tamil Nadu strongman.

However, all that is set to change now, after the Supreme Court announced that the BCCI chief must quit in the next 48 hours. And the ever-supportive working committee members too seem to have distanced itself for their beleaguered boss.

Three of the five Board vice-presidents - Shivlal Yadav, Chitrak Mitra and Ravi Sawant - have accepted the Supreme Court's ruling and said that a new president will be elected as soon as Srinivasan quits, maybe by Wednesday or Thursday.

While the BCCI is yet to call any emergent Working Committee meeting yet, Shivlal - representing South Zone - is likely to be the new president. His willingness to take up the top job is readily expressed in his statement: "I am ready to accept any responsibility given to me. The Supreme Court has given the order, nobody can challenge it. We have to accept it. There is no question of rejecting it or giving an opinion.”

This isn't for the first time the BCCI's top chair is under scrutiny. Last year, Srinivasan had to step down to facilitate a 'fair' probe by the BCCI committee, comprising T. Jayarama Chouta and R. Balasubramanian. Former BCCI chief, Jagmohan Dalmiya had taken over as interim chief at that time.

However, the senior Cricket Association of Bengal president is not in the running for the top job this time as made clear by a senior CAB official.
