One time Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly might have said no to politics, but the retired cricketer has found himself something more inspiring, engrossing and comical now.

For the first time ever, Anant Pai's 'Amar Chitra Katha' will have living heroes to woo new-age kids. And, the man to open the new innings for them will be none other than Sourav Ganguly, one of India's most successful cricket captains.

Considering the changing times and tastes of today' kids, India's largest selling comic book series have decided to go for an image and content revamp. Besides introducing living heroes in its comic, it also has big plans to launch all its editions in animated and gaming formats for all screens - television, film, mobile and online.

"We want to do a volume on Ganguly. The future generation should know about this sporting legend and this is the best way to do that. He is likely to be the first living hero to be featured in Amar Chitra Katha," said Kishore Biyani, CEO of Future Group that took over the publication in 2011.

Previously, the Kishore Biyani publication had featured legends like Jim Corbett, Amar Chitra Katha creator Anant Pai, ornithologist Salim Ali, Amul man Verghese Kurien, math wizard S Ramanujan, classical singer M S Subbulakshmi, hockey legend Dhyan Chand and first Everest conqueror Tenzing Norgay, posthumously.

With more than 400 comics in over 20 languages, Amar Chitra Katha is country's largest selling comic book, and has sold 90 million copies so far.
