Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly put an end to all speculations on his political ambition by openly stating that he has no intention to join politics or even contest for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

"I am not in politics. I am a sportsman. It is confirmed," Ganguly said during a surprise visit to the new state secretariat building, Nabanna, on Thursday evening.

The cricket icon, however, remained tight-lipped on his meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, but revealed that he had met her to discuss matters related to his upcoming school project in Kolkata.

A few days ago, gossipmill was rife with rumors on Sourav Ganguly receiving an offer from the BJP to contest the Lok Sabha elections. It was also buzzed that BJP's PM post frontrunner Narendra Modi too was keen on having Sourav as the country's next sports minister.
