A secret is a heavy weight, in most of the people’s mindset. They cannot sleep well and continue their regular activities with secrets inside their brain (hiding). In organizations also, the gossiping plays multiple roles on the productivity and internal communications.

Gossiping enables some fellows to research about others, it helps some people to defame others and in any way it becomes agenda for day long discussions. It will also motivate some people to improve their efficiency in work, as per a research done by researchers from various institutions.

The report said that keeping secret is a physical weight, which cannot help the person to work effectively.

"The more you feel preoccupied by a secret and are thinking about it, the more you are using your personal resources - cognitive and motivational - the less energy you feel you have available to pursue other tasks," said Michael Slepian, lead author of the study and a researcher at Columbia Business School. "You see things around you as more challenging. It's the same outcome as when you are carrying a heavy burden," he said.

Slepian, along with his co-researchers Nicholas Camp of Stanford University and EJ Masicampo of Wake Forest University asked the participants to respond on the a 'preoccupying' secret or a 'non-preoccupying' secret and then to judge the steepness of a hill.

They have found both type of persons, some wants to reveal immediately as they cannot hide and some keep the secrets with them as part of their courtesy. However, the people with less secret maintaining are having good outcome after gossiping.

This could not be applied to all platforms, since gossiping leads to personal rivalry and may damage the organizational balance, which results in poor outcome. The above mentioned importance may help in some specific areas. The gossiping may end very bitterly as some stories and rumors are potential enough to kill people.
