You only get a set of pearly whites, and repair almost always costs twice the amount of prevention. So, it's important to be kind to your teeth and take care of it the right way. Today we discuss some of the damages you might be unknowingly inflicting on your teeth. Read away and be alert.

Brushing too hard

Brushing vigorously can wear away the enamel of your teeth, trigger sensitivity and even cause the gum to recede. Avoid using hard bristled toothbrushes. Rather opt for a soft to semi-soft brush and brush your teeth in small, gentle circles.

Going sour

Eating too much of acidic foods like wine, sports drink, orange juice and lemons can wear away the protective layer of teeth that can never re-grow. When the nerves underneath lose their protective cover, it makes the teeth sensitive to hot and cold food. If you can't resist these foods altogether, at least try to neutralize the pH by chugging water or popping cheese afterward. Also, refrain swishing acidic drink around your mouth and always use a straw to drink them.

Hot pizza with cold drink

Yes, that bad habit of yours might be appeasing your buds, but definitely not doing any good for your teeth. Eating hot and cold at the same time causes a vertical hair-thin crack on the enamel that can lead to stains and breaks.
