Apart from the high cost of living, DC is actually quite a great place to live in. The employment opportunities, convenience, the weather- everything is great. Although the province has its flaws, there is no doubt that it is one of the best places for people to live in in the United States. Here are a few reasons as to why DC is a good place to live in:
1. DC is one of the most convenient places for travel
One of the best things about DC is that the city is well developed. There are many local places to live in which are close for work. The public transport is also very convenient. The city’s developments and patterns are built to form a straightforward street grid. Most people in DC walk or use public transport as they are very convenient. The Urban development is great in this area. Your ability to reach places faster will have you shocked. There are actually fewer people who drive cars here in comparison to the rest of the United States. DC is also one of the leading cities in the world for sustainable design.
2. DC has one of the best parks
In D.C, parks are easily accessible throughout the whole day. 98 percent of this city’s residents live within a 10 minute walk from a park. D.C is also ranked number one in the United States among urban park systems. The city also has its own park department. One of the best parks to visit in this area Is the Rock Creek Park. It is twice the size of New York’s Central Park ans it one of the oldest parks in the country and is a great place to go for a nice hike. It is also a great place to have a nice picnic or a spring party. And not to forget, a great place to enjoy nature.
3. Fan of sports? Then this is the place for you
When it comes to stadiums, D.C has it all for all type of sports. There is a stadium for their baseball team- the Washington Nationals, men’s basketball which is the Washington Wizards, women’s basketball- the Washington Mystics and D.C United- the Washington men’s soccer team and finally, the Washington Capitals which is the men’s hockey team. Washington’s NFL team currently plays in Maryland but they still have a lot of team franchise. The stadiums in the city help trigger investments across the cit. The money is used to develop fountains, roads, parks and other city developments. Sporting events are taken seriously in the city.

Since D.C is a bustling economy and has a growing population. Hence the price for living and housing in the city is quite expensive. The reason for this is due to zoning restrictions, high land prices and other factors involved. Although prices for houses have increased, statistics show that the population is still rising which is a good sign. This city is also very safe and has a low crime rate compared to other cities in the United States. The churches in the city are also famous among tourists and are peaceful places for worship.
5. The tourism is top tier
When you hear about Washington, everyone talks about the Washington monument and the Lincoln memorial and of course, the Martin Luther King junior memorial. However, Washington D.C is the best place to get a glimpse of American History and culture. D.C’s Smithsonian museums are very famous. There are 12 in the city and each represents a different category. You can even find exclusive artifacts such as the Kohinoor diamond and other popular tourist sights. Some of the categories of the Smithsonian museums include animals and birds where there is an exclusive moth exhibition where you can see rare species of butterflies and moths live, jewels museum, space museum etc. D.C is also the only place to have a national zoo. The Smithsonian’s National zoological park hosts around 2,700 animals including rare species such as the red panda, Asian elephants, lemurs and rare reptiles and insects. The zoo spreads across 163 acres of land. The music and art scene in D.C is also quite great. There are many esteemed theatre c
ompanies and arenas for concerts. You will surprised to see how many celebrities and politicians you will bump into at these venues.

D. C has some of the best cultural and educational institutions in the world.The institutions are filled with domestic and international students who even host cultural and community events. D.C also has multiple opportunities who those want a political career. D.C is ranked as 9th in the World for hosting some of the best Universities. If you graduate from any esteemed University in D.C and are opting for a political career, then it is very easy to picture and see yourself working as a political figure and not just politics but anything you choose to work for.
7. The weather
One of the most unusual things about D.C is it’s unpredictable weather. As hot as the summers might be, that is as cold as how the winters will be. During the summer’s the heat can become unbearable. Luckily, there are a lot of stands and ice cream trucks that keep strolling around the city. Also, the winters get very cold and there is heavy snowfall. More than once, the city has shut down for even very little snowfall. The roads can get pretty treacherous during the winter season. Spring and fall are by far the best seasons to enjoy in D.C
8. The cherry blossom awesomeness
One of D.C’s finest treasures is not the White House or the Lincoln Memorial. It is the cherry blossom season. There is an annual festival which celebrates the Yoshino tree around the Tidal Basin which is a huge occasion for the city. Almost 1.5 million people, tourists and citizens gather at parks during the spring season. You can enjoy this season by taking a nice stroll in parks.
9. The food is delicious
E. C is home to multiple cuisines including Modern Indian, Thai, Japanese, Ethiopian, Vietnamese and Korean food. Whether you eat in the city at a fancy restaurant or in the street, the food is equally great.
