The Indian community in New Jersey is gearing up for an event marking Indian Independence Day - 5th Annual Indian Independence Day Celebration at Exchange Place on August 10 (Saturday), from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Exchange Place is located at the end of Montgomery Street on the Jersey City waterfront.

The event will witness Indian traditional dance performances featuring both adults and children as well as performances of national songs. You can even relish desi food and get a thrill out of Bollywood music.

The event will be starting with the 200 children in attendance waving small Indian flags during the parade. The parade will be lead by a band as it moves forward around the area with the Indian flags waving.

Children can also take part in a dress show, dressing up in Freedom Fighter’s costumes or classic Indian dress. After the parade, the children will be called up to the stage to wave to the spectators.
