The train derailment has taken away the lives of at least two passengers and injured several. Ten compartments of Jammu-bound Muri Express derailed between Sirathu and Atsarai railway stations, while the nearest major station is Allahabad.

The Central Railway Minister has announced Rs 2 lakh compensation to the kin of the deceased passengers, while Rs 50,000 will be given for the seriously injured and Rs 20,000 for minor injuries.

“One of the coaches had turned turtle. Following the accident, two persons died, one was grievously injured and five sustained simple injuries.Injured passengers have been admitted to nearby hospitals,” said a statement issued by Railways.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2lakh and directed state government officials to provide all necessary help to the victims.
