An empty gas tanker explosion took place in a garage at the Chembur area in Mumbai. Two people were killed in the accident. One person was identified as Shafiq Ahmed, 18, a garage worker and other an unidentified vehicle cleaner.
According to eyewitnesses as mentioned in TNIE, welding on the tanker might have caused the explosion on Tuesday. "I saw a blast, so I came running. A boy was lying here and the tanker was ripped open and parts of it strewn everywhere. A body was lying there, he was a little alive and we tried to lift him up and took him to the hospital. We were three people and he died on the way to the hospital," said the people.
No damage or fire was reported in adjacent buildings after the explosion.
