An Indian origin Hindu man in New Zealand is fighting a David vs Goliath battle against a local supermarket after he ended up eating beef because of a mistake made by the store. Jaswinder Paul, who moved to New Zealand two decades ago, had asked the store to fork up round-trip airfare to India so that he can purify his damaged inner being. Jaswinder Paul says Hinduism mandates that he now come back home and "do sacred things for four to six weeks, and be purified by priests". "It's a long process," Paul told Stuff.co.nz, a local news website. Paul's fight with the grocery store dates back to September earlier this year when he bought a package of "roast lamb". According to Stuff.co.nz, Paul, who runs a barbershop, cooked the meat and ate it before realizing it was actually beef and not lamb, that the label on it claimed. And ever since, Paul said, his family has turned down to talk to him. Paul realized that he must cleanse his soul in order to "continue on (his) religious path". And so, Paul approached the supermarket - Countdown in New Zealand's Blenheim town - and asked them to fund his 'yatra' back home. The supermarket apologized for mislabeling and consequently offered Paul a gift voucher, according to a spokesperson for the supermarket who spoke to Stuff.co.nz. But Paul declined, in hope that the supermarket would come to its senses and pay up the money required for a cleansing trip back home. However, the supermarket did no such thing. And now, according to Stuff.co.nz, Paul is considering knocking on a court's door, even though he does not want to. "I don't want to go to court against a big corporation. I just want to go home," Paul said, adding that it may look like a "simple matter" but for him, it is "very hard". An Indian origin director of British sportscar company Group Lotus has been banned from driving for a year after being caught drink-driving on the roads of Norwich in the East Anglia region of England. Uday Senapati, who appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court charged with driving while over the legal alcohol limit earlier this month. He is the product strategy and managing director for the Norfolk-headquartered sports car company behind models like Evora and Elise. "You cannot see someone who works for a world famous motor company not being able to drive. They [Lotus] seem to be able to make arrangements to keep him on," his attorney Simon Nicholls told the court. The court heard that Senapati had been on a night out with friends which had gone on later than planned. Before getting a taxi home, he decided to move his car to a car park to avoid a parking ticket the next day. He was stopped by police as he tried to drive his black Volvo XC60 into the car park and was arrested after failing a breath test and taken to Wymondham police station in Norwich. "He had the best intentions - it's good mitigation but it's not a defense. It was more than just a few feet," Nicholls said. Senapati was found to have 63 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milliliters of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 35, during the incident on February 15. The 40-year-old admitted drink driving and was banned from driving for 12 months and fined 1,850 pounds. He has also been directed to pay 85 pounds towards legal costs and 170 pounds surcharge, besides undertaking a compulsory course for drink drivers. A day after body of Indian origin woman dentist’s was found stuffed in a suitcase in Sydney, the only suspect behind the murder traveled 400 kilometers with the sole purpose of seeing her in spite of knowing that she was dating another man, police have said as they struggled to find out what happened in a gap of several hours yet to be accounted for on the day of her death.The man suspected of murdering the 32-year-old Preethi Reddy, whose body was found with numerous stab wounds, in her car parked in an eastern Sydney street, New South Wales, is another Indian-origin dentist and her ex-boyfriend Harsh Narde.Narde died on Monday night after his BMW car collided with a truck on the New England Highway, a day after his ex-girlfriend was reported missing, New South Wales Police (NSW) said.The head-on collision, around 340 kilometers from where Reddy's body was found, is believed to have been intentional, they said.Police reportedly believe Narde traveled 400km from Tamworth to Sydney for the continuing education course with the sole purpose of seeing his ex-girlfriend despite her telling him: "I've moved on, you need to do the same", The Daily Telegraph reported."Preethi told him she had met someone else and that it was serious and she was moving to Melbourne," an anonymous source told the newspaper.A colleague of Reddy and Narde said he last saw the pair chatting animatedly in the hotel lobby following the event on Saturday night.Narde had no history of violence, according to sources."They looked happy and stayed back to chat after the conference ended at 7 p.m.," he said. "I knew they (had previously been) in a long-term relationship, many of us did. The bizarre thing I noticed that night was that he took down his Facebook shortly after the conference. It made me wonder why."A few hours later, Reddy was captured on CCTV inside McDonald's at the Strand Arcade in Sydney about 2.15 a.m. on Sunday.CCTV footage shows Reddy standing at the counter before she appeared to leave alone and walk south on Market St. Further surveillance footage shows her entering the Swissotel foyer about five minutes later.An NSW Police spokesperson said Reddy stayed in the hotel with "a man known to her" all-night.At around 11 a.m. on Sunday, she spoke to her family over the phone and told them she would have a late breakfast then head home to Penrith. But when she failed to return that night, her family reported her missing to Nepean Police Area Command and created a Facebook page to help find her.Narde was captured on the hotel's CCTV camera getting help from a hotel porter to lift a large and heavy suitcase into the boot of a car on Sunday afternoon, according to The Daily Telegraph.The bag contained Reddy's body, which was discovered in the boot of her car on a laneway in Sydney's eastern suburbs around 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday. She had been stabbed numerous times.While Reddy was still the subject of a missing person's inquiry on Sunday night, Narde sent a series of text messages, to one of her concerned friends.Friends of Reddy asked Narde about his ex-girlfriend's whereabouts, questioning him via text message at 9.24 p.m. Sunday.In text messages obtained by the Daily Mail, one friend asked if he'd seen or heard from her."Hey, I spoke to her in person on Saturday evening. She said (she was going) home," he replied in the text messages.When the friend suggested Reddy was maybe sleeping somewhere, he replied: Maybe.And when the friend admitted they were scared Reddy had been missing for so long, Narde said he was too. "I feel disturbed as well am sitting at one place for the last 30 minutes," he wrote.Detective Superintendent Gavin Dengate revealed officers grilled Narde while Reddy was still the subject of a missing person's inquiry.In a shocking twist, Narde died about 10 p.m. on Monday night, a day after Reddy was reported missing in a head-on collision with a truck near Tamworth in what police believe was a deliberate act.A New South Wales (NSW) Police spokeswoman told news.com.au authorities were not looking for any other suspects in relation to Reddy's murder.Police have since appealed to the public to help them trace Reddy's final movements. The New Delhi Police has filed a case against a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) video blogger in connection with a video featuring a fake, edited and doctored audio clip of a conversation between Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah, police said Tuesday.NRI Avi Dandiya posted the doctored audio clip on social media with an intention to generate mistrust among the citizens against the defense forces and the top executives and defame them, they added.However, the audio clip was later removed from social media.In the video, it could be heard that three people discussing a plot for the terror attack which claimed the lives of 44 Central Reserve Police Force personnel on February 14. "He presented an audio clip of a fake conversation between Home Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president Amit Shah to support his claim. An unidentified woman was also heard in the clip. A search of the vehicle located Reddy's body in a suitcase. She had been stabbed "numerous times," police said."Further inquiries have established that Preethi stayed at a hotel on Market Street, Sydney CBD, on Sunday with a man known to her," according to a statement by police. However, a key suspect in the murder has reportedly been identified as her ex-boyfriend Harsh Narde, who was killed in a fiery car crash on Monday night. A Non-Resident Indian on Friday was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi for allegedly raping a woman he had met on a matrimonial site in 2017, according to police. The accused has been identified as Ravinder Singh, a native of Jalandhar district in Punjab and was living in the United Kingdom. According to police, the woman filed a case on March 27, 2018, stating that she came in contact with Singh through the matrimonial website. On December 12, 2017, Singh reportedly intoxicated the victim and raped her. He later convinced her that he would marry her soon, but instead left Delhi. Following that, the victim got to know that Singh was already married and was living in the UK, where he used to work as a security guard, police said. As part of the investigation, raids were conducted in the accused’s village in Punjab, but he did not join the probe, police said, adding a lookout circular was also issued against him. A Non-Resident Indian has been detained and jailed for seven years after he was booked in a cheating case on a Bandra event management firm’s complaint. The 41-year-old Sheru Aangrish from New Jersey was detained at Delhi airport earlier this week on the basis of a Lookout Circular (LoC). Immigration officials handed him over to Bandra police. Claiming innocence, Aangrish told the police that the cheating case is mendacious and he gave the firm Rs 76 lakh for their services. However, the firm’s statement was different. In 2013, one of its partners, Ankur Gosain, filed a lawsuit against Aangrish over non-payment of Rs 68 lakh out of Rs 1.44 crore, the amount for which the agreement was signed for Aangrish's bodybuilding show at Mehboob Studio, Bandra, in 2011. Aangrish met Gosain and his partner in September 2011 to talk about the show. Gosain's events firm arranged the stage, lighting, etc, for the show. In his complaint, Gosain said, "Aangrish paid Rs 50 lakh advance on September 23, 2011, after the full rate was quoted. Two days later, the show was held at Mehboob Studio. He kept giving excuses and kept delaying making the balance payment." Refuting Gosain's claim, Aangrish told the police, "I paid Rs 50 lakh and later Rs 26 lakh to the company. The extra sum they quoted in the complaint was for services like bringing to the show two celebrities. Despite repeatedly telling them that I was not interested in increasing my budget by almost Rs 80 lakh, they were insistent, on the grounds that the show would get a good response. However, on the day of the show, they failed to bring the two celebrities. Despite that, they sent me a bill including the charges for the celebrities who they had failed to bring." Aangrish also told the police that Gosain and his partner told him they would delete the amount from the bill. "I was unaware about the case and I never went into hiding. I was organizing such shows around the world," Aangrish said in his statement. According to bill introduced in Upper House, Non Resident Indians who marry an Indian citizen or fellow NRI have to register their marriage within 30 days, If they fail to register their passport may be impounded or revoked. The bill was introduced in Rajya Sabha against the backdrop of cases of Indian women being trapped in the Fraudulent Marriages with NRIs. The following bill was introduced by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in the Rajya Sabha. The bill ‘Registration of Marriage of Non-Resident Indian Bill, 2019’ it also allows the courts to attach properties, movable and immovable, of "proclaimed offenders" or people who fails to appear before courts despite warrants being issued against them. It states that, this law will be applicable to NRIs marrying Indian women within or even outside India. As per the bill, “There will be amendment in ‘The Passport Act and the Code of Criminal Procedure’ so that it allows passport authorities to revoke or impound passport or other documents of the accused, to allow courts to attach their properties” According to Ministry of External Affairs press statement, “According to the provisions of the Bill, the compulsory registration of marriage within thirty days of marriage in India or abroad would provide better enforcement of rights of the deserted spouse under various family laws. Similarly, the Amendment to the Passport Act would empower the Passport Authority to impound or revoke the passport of NRI, if it is brought to his notice that the NRI has not registered his marriage within 30 days from the date of marriage. The Amendments to CrPC, 1973 would empower the Courts for issuance of summons, warrants through the specially designated website of the Ministry of External Affairs. It also provides provisions for attachment of properties belonging to the NRI, if he does not appear before the Court and is declared as Proclaimed Offender by the Court.” “The Bill was introduced by the Ministry of External Affairs due to large number complaints received from Indian citizens mostly women deserted or harassed by their NRI Spouses.” “It proposes to offer greater protection to Indian women married to NRIs and serve as a deterrent to NRIs against harassment of their spouses. This would provide much needed relief to all Indian women married to NRIs worldwide,” according to press release. An NRI couple who visited the State Bank of India’s branch in New Mallepally to withdraw precious items from a locker after more than a decade claimed to have found it empty. According to police, the residents of the United States Ameena and Mozzam Hussain said they have last used the locker in 2005 and they had around 80 tolas of gold at that time, which is currently claimed to be missing. On Saturday, the Non-Resident Indian couple tried to open the locker with their keys, but in vain. And when they again visited bank on Tuesday, with the bank’s help they opened the locker. It was then they realized that the locker was ‘empty’. Although the bank is said to have CCTV cameras outside the locker area, there is no footage found which records activity inside. The death mystery of Florida-based Non-Resident Indian Chigurupati Jayaram, have found to be revealed after grilling many people including his relatives. Andhra Pradesh Krishna District's Superintendent of Police Sarvashresht Tripathi told reporters that realtor Rakesh Reddy, the main accused, and his driver Srinivas murdered Jayaram as the latter had failed to repay a Rs 4 crore loan. Jayaram, also a Managing Director of Express TV, a now inoperative Telugu channel, had come to Hyderabad from the United States a few days ago. As Reddy was demanding the money, he had blocked his mobile number. The accused contacted Jayaram on WhatsApp from some other number, using the display picture of a woman and started chatting with him. 'She' asked Jayaram to come unaccompanied to a house in Jubilee Hills. When the businessman reached there, Reddy and his driver gained control over and inflicted pain on him. The realtor demanded Rs 6 crore including the interest. As Jayaram had only Rs 6 lakh with him, Reddy, in a fit of rage, banged him against a sofa. Jayaram sustained a head injury and died on the spot. The accused then shifted the body to Jayaram's car and took it to Krishna district and left it in a field adjoining the national highway to make it seem like an accident. Before shifting the body, Rakesh spoke to two police officials of Hyderabad over phone. Police gathered clues from the CCTV footage from different toll gates on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway. Reddy, who was driving the car, also stopped at a wine shop at Nandigama to buy liquor. Empty liquor bottles were later found in the car along with Jayaram's body. Police investigations revealed that Reddy had come into contact with Jayaram after the latter had sought his help to deal with the problem created by lockout in his company on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Rakesh at that time became friends with Jayaram's niece Shikha Chowdary. The police who picked up a few suspects including his niece Sikha Chowdary and her boyfriend Rakesh Reddy said the accused had conceived to kill him in Hyderabad and executed their plan. According to sources, the NRI businessman borrowed money from Reddy and had a dispute over it in the past few months. The NRI, who was found dead in his car recently under the Nandigama police sub-division limits in Krishna district is suspected that he might have been killed in Telangana and miscreants left the body along with his vehicle in the Krishna district. The police said he might have been poisoned to death. The police squad deployed in Hyderabad interrogated the family members of the Chairman of the defunct Express TV on Sunday. “Financial disputes and other reasons are said to be the reasons.
