The Supreme Court has paused a previous order from the Madras High Court that allowed police action against Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev's Isha Foundation in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The Supreme Court has taken up the case and asked the Coimbatore Rural Police to investigate the allegations and provide a status report. The court has also directed that no further action be taken by the police based on the High Court's previous order. The case will be heard again by the Supreme Court on October 18.

The Isha Foundation responded that they were established to teach yoga and spirituality, and that adult individuals have the freedom to choose their own path. The Madras High Court had raised questions about the foundation's practices, particularly regarding Sadhguru's encouragement of women to live as monks when his own daughter is married. The court also noted several criminal cases pending against the foundation, including a recent case under the POCSO Act against a doctor associated with the Isha Yoga Centre. The foundation dismissed the allegations as baseless.

The statement emphasizes that becoming a monk is a personal decision. It also warns that anyone who spreads false information against the organization will be firmly addressed according to the country's laws.
