‘I will throw Modi out of Indian politics’ - Mamatha Banerjee

In her desperate tirade against demonetisation, West Bengal chief Minister and Trinamool congress leader Mamatha Banerjee said that next time she will demonstrate in front of Prime Minister’s residence and ensure that Modi is thrown out of Indian politics, if the demonetisation decision is not withdrawn.

“I am taking a pledge today… I might live or die, but I will remove Modi from Indian politics. Dictators like him have no place in Indian politics. Next time, my protest in Delhi will not be at Jantar Mantar, but in front of the Prime Minister’s residence,” she said after her protest march from College Square to Esplanade in Kolkata.

“The entire country is suffering. There is no money in banks, ATMs. So far, 80 people have died due to the hardships caused by demonetisation. But Narendra Modi is having a sound sleep and giving lectures on taking the country towards cashless economy. Most of the people in rural areas do not have bank accounts. How will they cope with this situation?” she added.

“I will not stop until and unless this decision is rolled back. I had also given solutions on how to cope with this situation. But they (Centre) did not accept it. Modi has been sending central agencies after everyone who raised voice against his dictatorship. But he can’t muzzle my voice. If I have to, I will fight alone. When I had started the Singur movement, people had predicted doom, but eventually it bore fruit. This time too, I will fight for the rights of the common people,” she added while raising slogans like ‘Modi Sarkar Hai Hai’ and ‘Tanashahi Nahi Chalegi’.
