No Change In Triple Talaq System, AIMPLB ClearsHot Buzz

On Thursday, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced that there is no scope for change in the triple talaq system rejecting the suggestions that came from community outfits. The suggestions proposed for building a consensus to make a mandatory period of three months prior to finalizing a divorce.

Process cannot be changed - triple talaq

Maulana Abdul Raheem Qureshi, AIMPLB spokesman, said even though ‘triple talaq’ is a crime according to Quran and Hadith, “but once said the process would be considered complete and cannot be changed.”

"Though the AIMBLP has not received any such letter as yet, but we do not agree with the suggestion. We have nothing to do with what happens in other Islamic countries. What is happening in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Sudan and other countries. We do not look into it. What we follow is what Quran Sharif, Hadith and Sunnat has said," the spokesman added.

Qureshi denied the reports that said that the board received letters from related to the system from Deobandi and Barelvi sects and the All India Sunni Ulema Council. He also added that in any case they were not in agrrement with any proposals or suggestions.

‘Triple Talaq’ issue raised in Past

Maulana Shahabuddin, Jamat Raza-e-Mustafa general secretary, said that even in the past the demand was raised to consider triple talaq in one go as ineligible. Jamat Raza-e-Mustafa is a religious and social unit of center of Barelvi sect.

"But the religious leaders of Hanafi, Shaafai, Maliki and Hambli sects decided that once uttered thrice, talaq will be considered complete," Shahabuddin said.
