A documentary which shows the bitter truth of KFC

The Billion dollar fast food shop, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) does this to satisfy its thousands of customers.

A new documentary by BBC has brought to light a new unknown fact about the chickens which are served in KFC.

The three part programme reportedly shows tens of thousands of chicken are kept in sheds for 35 days before they are gassed and sent out to warehouse for distribution.

The programme highlights all aspects of the operation on these chickens from top to bottom.

It features one of the men who supply’s the chicken, a farmer called Andrew. Andrew who handles a farm containing as many as 34,000 birds told to the film crew "I wouldn’t mind being a chicken in here".

For the first time the camera has been allowed inside one of the farm that supplies millions of chicken to KFC.

KFC says it is "committed to animal welfare standards and supporting the UK and Irish farming industries".

A spokesman told the Mail: "Animal welfare is essential for high quality food and is important to our customers, and all of KFC’s suppliers meet or exceed UK and EU welfare requirements.KFC was the first quick-service restaurant to gain Red Tractor certification and we have in place our own robust standard, which is independently audited by third parties."

First episode of the documentary reveals how the managing director Martin strives to expand his empire of 850 fast food chicken stores nationwide, while keeping his predominantly young workforce force motivated.
