At a meeting of the American Geophysical Union announced that NASA's Curiosity rover has found something: fluctuating traces of methane, which proves possibility of life.

NASA Scientists announced on December16 that Curiosity had detected methane at a Background concentration of slightly less than one part per billion by volume in the atmosphere as it projected above the sedimentary rock known as Mount Sharp.

The Curiosity rover measured much higher methane levels in this period of two months and successive studies of these emissions could raise the possibility whether Mars has life now or in its past.

Chris Webster, pioneer author of the study published in Science said that On Earth methane is produced by biology, and the hope has been that “methane on Mars” could be reduced to “Life on Mars".

However we cannot confirm whether the high methane levels we’re noticing are being produced by geochemical or biological process.
