Alert! The big news coming in is that Charlize Theron and Sean Penn could soon be heading to the altar, the grapevine insists. Ask how?

Well, Miss Theron was recently spotted at the Los Angeles International Airport wearing a shiny new bauble on her ringer, setting off speculations that Penn might have finally popped a proposal.

While the actors are yet to confirm the big dope, we do have our own reservations believing the gossip mill as yet.

Apparently, the glitzy hardware Theron is wearing happens to be an 18-karat yellow gold Anita Ko Leaf Ring, worth an insignificant $4,900. So we have all reasons to doubt the news given why a wealthy, glamorous, Oscar winning star would pick something so trivial as her band?

But for Penn, 53, and Theron, 38, who just seem to be truly, deeply, madly in love with each other now, a wedding might be on the cards sometime, if not now.

"Sean and I have known each other for 18 years," Theron had told Vogue for its May issue. "We were just really good friends and it's been slow going because you are aware that you could screw that up and lose it. We had to think about it. But at the end of the day, it was somewhat effortless."

While Theron has never been married, Penn was formerly married to Madonna and Robin Wright. If the wedding happens, this would be Penn's third walk to the altar.
