Hollywood's first major awards show of the season kicked off  with the 71st Annual Golden Globes on Sunday night.

Although the event did not commence particularly auspiciously, spirits were high in Beverly Hilton Hotel as hostesses of the night Tinay Fey and Amy Poehler kicked off the starry event to a grand start.

While 'American Hustle' took home three awards, '12 Years A Slave' took the top prize of the night, being named as the Best Drama. Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey took the top prizes in the categories for Best Actress and Best Actor respectively.  Jennifer Lawrence won first for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie for 'American Hustle'.

Jacqueline Bisset won gong for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Show, Miniseries or TV Movie - presented to her by Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis.

Best supporting actor in a TV series, mini-series or TV movie: Jon Voight, Ray Donovan
Best supporting actress in a TV series, mini-series or TV movie: Amy Adams, American Hustle
Best actress in a TV series, drama: Robin Wright, House of Cards
Best supporting actor in a motion picture: Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club
Best screenplay: Spike Jonze, Her
Best actor in a TV series, comedy: Andy Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Best foreign language film: The Great Beauty
Best actor in a mini-series or TV movie: Michael Douglas, Behind the Candelabra
Best animated feature film: Frozen
Best actress in a TV series, Comedy: Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation
Best director for motion picture: Alfonso Cuaron, Gravity
Best TV series, comedy or musical: Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Best actor in a motion picture, comedy: Leonardo DiCaprio, Wolf of Wall Street
Best motion picture, musical or comedy: American Hustle
