Ride-hailing company Uber has come out with a new feature in India. To make the ride more cost-effective for the user, Uber introduced ‘Group Rides’. This is a feature where passengers can ride among friends, that is limited up of three and who are heading for a common destination.

According to Uber, by group rides anyone can save up to 30 per cent, depending on the members you are sharing the ride with.

Nitish Bhushan, Director of Central Operations of Uber India said, in a statement that this group ride feature not only saves money but will also decrease the number of vehicles on the roads. Uber can ride known friends to common destinations together, which will save money.

In this new feature, friends can share their Uber ride details through any messaging app. Friends can also input their individual pickup locations by integrating them into their journey.

Uber mainly mentions that, with this Group Rides feature, there will be an easing of traffic congestion and also enable friends, colleagues, or relatives to share a ride to a common destination, which will obviously decrease individual vehicle usage on the road. Many users will not be comfortable sharing their rides with an unknown person and this feature will help them.

Booking a Group Ride is very easy for the users as an icon is displayed on Uber app like all other booking options.
