Mukesh Ambani had announced Reliance Jio plans at the company's 42nd annual General Meeting in Mumbai last week. Ambani said that the SIM will be available to all from 5th September.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has been touting Jio as the world's most affordable 4G telecom service that aimed to offer up to 90 per cent, of Indians which is more than 100 million, high-speed mobile Internet as well as voice services by 2017. RIL CMD Mukesh Ambani took to the company's 42nd Annual General Meeting in Mumbai on Thursday to formally announce the launch of Jio and its “coming soon” official tariff plans.

The services were currently in beta or testing phase, preview, and will continue to be so until September 5, 2016. After September 5, Jio will start a Welcome Offer, replacing Preview, under which consumers will get the same benefits until December 31, 2016. The offer will be open for all.  India Today Online had reported previously that the Preview offer was already open for all 4G LTE compatible handsets, unofficially. But from 5th september, It will be available officially for all 4G LTE-compatible handsets, under a different name and a different usage period.

This is not yet clear whether customers who get the SIM before September 5 would be eligible for the existing 90 days free Preview scheme or not.

Staring from September 5, Jio 4G will be available for virtually every 4G-compatible handset. This means that, starting September 5, you can simply walk in to your nearest Reliance Digital and Digital Xpress Mini Store to get yourself a free Jio SIM and avail free unlimited access to Jio's Digital Life, that is HD voice call, HD video call, apps, data and SMS until December 31st.
