Sonam Kapoor is likely to star in biopic on the life of Amrita Sher-Gill. The Khoobsurat actress will be playing the renowned painter Amrita Sher-Gill, according to reports.

The film makers have already begun the ground work on Sher-Gill's life story.

This is not the first time that Sonam will be seen in a biopic. Earlier the actress had a short and sweet role in the biopic 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', based on athlete Milkha Singh's life. But in the Amrita Sher-Gill biopic Sonam will play the lead protagonist.

Sonam is reportedly playing the role of Sher-Gil, who was a renowned painter of pre-independent India. The Bollywood fashionista is in talks with the family-members of the artist.

Amrita Sher-Gil was one of the leading painters of pre-independent India. The renowned painter was born to a Punjabi father and Jewish mother in Budapest. She lived in India and France for most of her life. Amrita Sher-Gil died when she was 29 years old.

The upcoming biopic will centre around Amrita Sher-Gil's family, friends, lovers and mentors.
