Story
Bobby (played by Vidya Balan) is 30 year old girl, whose family is unhappy with her uncanny career choice. She is a private detective but has neither the qualification nor the training to be one. After being rejected by all employers, Bobby opens her own firm. She doesn't get any worthwhile case untill a rich man comes knocking at her firm. He offers big bucks for the case. Here on Bobby sets on her job as a detective, even getting lured into misdeeds. How does Bobby fix the whole thing? Herein lies the secret of the movie.
Analysis :
The story of the film is original and bubbly. The first half is engrossing with its right pace. It has the right blend of fun and mystery. But the second half loses its pace. Probably the film should have kept its focus on the thrill, with a dash of a refreshing romance. That would have kept the momentum alive. The climax is disappointing. The film could have been a marvelous had they not brought an overwrought emotional factor, which mowed down the story. The film is watchable only for Vidya's splendid acting and the cute chemistry between the lead pair. If you ask my opinion, a detective story cannot be said to be good if the audience can crack the story before the detective.
Performance :
Vidya Balan lives up to her reputation in this film. She delivers a spirited performance and plays her role brilliantly. The talented actress brings the character alive on screen. Vidya is undeniably at her charming best but the script doesn't support her caliber.
Ali Fazal has revealed himself as an actor. Inspite of being overshadowed by Vidya Balan, Fazal shines in the film. Before this movie he was hardly noticed for his work. The director could have used him more but considering the fact that Bobby Jasoos is a woman centric film, his role got more than its due.
Others like Rajendra Gupta and Surpriya Pathak have an average role in the film. While Tanvi Azmi and Zarina Wahab have have been wasted in the film.
Final Word:
Watch it for Vidya Balan's acting and the cute chemistry between Vidya and Ali Fazal.
