Time and again we have had B-townies raise millions to help victims struck by natural disasters. And this time it's no different. Thanks to an initiative started by actor Kunal Kapoor, Bollywood is now doing everything in its might to raise funds for the flood ravaged Jammu & Kashmir. And the latest actor to extend a supporting hand is his best buddy Hrithik Roshan who not only donated to Kunal's flood relief funds, but also wrote an open letter to all his fans, urging them to support the flood victims in Jammu & Kashmir.
Writing to his fans, Hrithik Roshan expressed: “I’ve been watching the news coverage of the floods in Kashmir and it’s saddening, the number of people whose homes and lives have just been wiped out. Having been to J&K multiple times and having shot numerous films there I know the challenges the people will be facing given this devastation. I want to do something to help them. And I know there are people just like me, who want to help too.”
The actor further urged his ardents and other well-wishers to join him in the campaign and raise funds for the people of Kashmir. “Let’s stand by our countrymen and do whatever we can to help them deal with their losses. We can help them gradually rebuild their homes and their lives. We CAN make a difference together,” he enjoined.
All the funds collected in ketto.org/jkfloodrelief will be spent towards providing medicine, food and shelter to those hit by the floods until they overcome the catastrophe.
The funds accumulated will go to CARE INDIA who will utilize the money to hand out survival kits to the affected families and individuals in J&K. The kits will have amenities for survival like Tarpaulin, Mats, Hygiene Kit(Soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary Napkins & Disinfectants Soaps)and blankets.
“Each Survival Kit costs INR 5000 and I am looking to fundraise for 200 such kits.I have already gone ahead and funded for the first 20kits. Please support this campaign. Let’s come together for our fellow-countrymen,” Hrithik signed off.
