Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently addressed the security breach in Parliament, stressing the gravity of the incident. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, stating that there should be no debate on this matter.

"The severity of this incident should not be underestimated. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha is taking the necessary measures, while investigative agencies are diligently looking into the situation. It is crucial to identify the individuals responsible for this breach and understand their motives. There is no room for debate; a comprehensive investigation is imperative," he stated in an interview with Dainik Jagran newspaper.

Disturbing scenes unfolded in the Lok Sabha chamber last Wednesday, as two intruders leaped from desk to desk and released colored smoke from canisters. Outside the Parliament, their accomplices staged a similar protest. During questioning, the suspects revealed that their objective was to bring attention to the issues of violence in Manipur, unemployment, and problems faced by farmers. As of now, a total of six individuals have been apprehended in connection with this case. The Delhi Police have invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, a stringent anti-terror law, against the trespassers.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has made it clear that the responsibility for security within the Lok Sabha lies with the secretariat, and the government will not be allowed to interfere in this matter. This response comes in light of the Opposition MPs' slogans demanding intervention from the Centre. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge expressed concern over the security breach, urging the Home Minister to address the issue in Parliament. However, Kharge noted that the Home Minister has been silent on the matter within the parliamentary setting, opting instead to discuss it on television shows. Kharge emphasized that this lack of engagement within the democratic institution is detrimental.
