From Delhi to the Southern parts of the country, tomato prices are seeing a huge surge. Tomato crops had limited supply this year because of extreme heat and rainfall. June 20th, in Hyderabad market, Tomato price was at Rs 40/- per kg and in less than 10 days' time, Tomato price touched the mark of 100/- per kg. Depending on the locations and the demand, vegetable vendors are fixing the price.

With tomatoes, Carrots, Cauliflower and Green Chillies prices also hiked in the local markets. With the high inflation, the middle class are facing a huge impact. Carrots escalated from Rs 48 per kg to Rs 60 per Kg. Green Chillies rose from Rs 80 per kg to Rs 100 per kg. Chicken is Rs 300 per Kg and each Egg is Rs 7 per piece, which is seeing a hike.

The only relief is onion prices, which dint see any surge and is stable at Rs 20 Per kg. Retail inflation dips to a two-year low. National Capital Delhi is also seeing problems with the prices as the neighbouring states Uttar Pradesh and Haryana had less production. Many are blaming farmers for the production shortage, but this was because of the extreme heat and delayed monsoon. This is an effective burden for middle-class communities. Situations are similar all over and cause financial strain on the consumers.
