Days after the DMK government shut down lights around the airport when Amit Shah was travelling to his hotel from Guindy Airport, Tamil Nadu’s electricity minister Senthil Balaji, was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a government hospital today morning in Chennai. He also holds a Prohibition and Excise portfolio of Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu state ministers and leaders claim that he has been tortured. Udhayanidhi Stalin, Subramanian and EV Velu visited the hospital, ministers said that Senthil is unconscious and under observation in ICU. DMK Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate NR Elango has stated that Senthil Kumar’s arrest was not informed to his family by ED officials.

There was high drama at the spot. Senthil Kumar was seen dragging out from the vehicle, while he was crying very badly. The visuals are all over the internet. His supporters were also seen protesting his arrests around.

ED conducted raids at all locations linked to Senthil Balaji at Karur and Erode on Tuesday. Last month Income Tax department conducted raids on Balaji.

There is also speculation that the minister was arrested by the Economic Intelligence Agency. However, there is official confirmation.
