The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reported that some of the Indian cities will be underwater by the end of this century. Here are the states and the reasons why they may be drowned by the end of the century:

Kandla from Gujarat: The rising level of the water is 1.87 feet. The port in Kandla was constructed in the 1950s and is said to be one of the busiest ports of the country.

Okha in Gujarat is the other state. The rising level is 1.96 feet and this port is known to import lignite from Indonesia which are used for the thermal power stations for Gujarat. The lignite is also used for the soda ash plant for Tata Chemicals.

Bhavnagar is the third city from Gujarat which is at a threat. The rising level is said to be 2.70 feet and it is a home for several small-scale and large-scale industries. Bhavnagar also has the world's largest ship-breaking yard named Alang.

Mumbai which happens to be the financial capital of the country is at a risk. The rising level is at 1.90 feet and the harbour is spread across 400 square kilometers.

Goa's Mormugao has a lavish seaport and the rising level is at 2.06 feet. Mormugao is known for its natural harbour and is the major port of Goa.

Karnataka's major port city Mangalore too is on the list of the cities which are at a risk. The rising level is 1.87 feet and Mangalore is responsible for the major cashew and coffee exports of the country.

Cochin from Kerala is called as the Queen of the Arabian Sea. The city's rising level is 2.32 feet and it is responsible for spice trading since the 14th century.

Odisha's Paradip is the major port of Odisha and the rising level is 1.93 feet and is situated between Kolkata and Visakhapatnam.

West Bengal's Khidirpur is also at risk. The rising level is 0.49 feet and it is the only riverine port of the country. Khidirpur is located in the neighborhood of Kolkata.

Andhra Pradesh's happening city Visakhapatnam has three harbors is the country's third-largest port and the rising level is 1.77 feet. A major amount of the country's cargo is handled by Visakhapatnam.

Tami Nadu's capital Chennai is the second largest container port of India and the rising level is 1.87 feet.

Tuticorin, one more port city of Tamil Nadu serves the inland cities of the South and it is called a Pearl City. The rising level is said to be 1.9 feet.
