The Income Tax Department has initiated surprise raids on the offices and premises of media giant Dainik Bhaskar Group and its promoters. The residences along with the offices are raided today. The Income Tax officials started raids about tax evasion in the offices of Dainik Bhaskar Group in India. Dainik Bhaskar Group has been one of the biggest media houses of India and they are under scanner for some time. The raids are currently conducted in multiple locations of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. As per the reports, the raids are conducted in 30 locations by multiple teams.

In Madhya Pradesh, raids are going on in Bhopal and Indore. In Rajasthan, the offices of Jaipur are raided and in Gujarat, the raids are conducted in Ahmedabad. There are reports that the officials paid their visit to some of the locations in Maharashtra. The Income Tax department received a tip about the tax evasion of Dainik Bhaskar Group and its sister companies. The group is headquartered in Madhya Pradesh. The group has been aggressively reporting about the ongoing Covid-19 situation in the country and about the second wave of coronavirus. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called it a brutal attempt to stifle democracy. She said that the Dainik Bhaskar Group bravely reported how Narendra Modi failed to handle the coronavirus in the country.
