Foreign Envoys to Make a visit to J&K to Access Ground Situation

The envoys majorly from Latin America and African countries will be visiting Kashmir on Thursday. It is said that foreign envoys will be visiting Kashmir where they would meet the members of the civil society as they would be briefed abut the security situation.

The visit is being organized as requests were made by the Delhi-based envoys to visit Kashmir following the decision that had been made by the government in August to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and to split the state into two union territories.

The envoys of the European Union country have conveyed that they will be making a visit later on a separate dates and has insisted to meet the prominent leaders of the region that includes Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti who were the former Chief Ministers.

The visit of the envoys has been organized where in the envoys will get to meet the Lt Governor GC Murmu and the other officials before they return to Delhi.

It is also said that, the visit is arranged as a request has been made to the government of India by several number of countries to organize a visit of Kashmir so that they will be able to get the first hand report regarding the situation after the abrogation of article 370.

According to the officials in Srinagar the envoys were expected to meet the local body representatives, the members of the panchayat and the representatives of the NGOs. However, the representatives and the members said that they have been informed to get prepared for the meetings on Thursday in Srinagar, by the officials.

The representatives said that they would put forth their point of view in the meeting which is expected to be held at either army’s Badami Bagh cantonment or Lalit Grand Hotel on the banks of Dal Lake.
