Syed Akbaruddin tweeted “Repeat Offenders” regarding the video that has been shared by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan which was to highlight his example of police brutality against Muslims in Uttar Pradesh. He later had to delete the post as the video clip turned out to be footage shot in Bangladesh in 2013.

The clip has been shared by Mr Khan after the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh sought his help regarding the mob attack at the Nankana Sahib Gurudwara, a town in Pakistan which is believed to be the place where Guru Nanak was born, the attack took place as hundreds of people have surrounded the Gurudwara and threw stones with the devotees inside.

Pak PM has tweeted saying, “Indian Police’s pogrom against Muslims,” tagging a seven year-old video of the brutality of Police in Bangladesh and he later deleted it.

Mr Akbaruddin, who is India’s permanent representative in the United Nations has tweeted “Repeat Offenders…”with the hashtag “#oldhabitsdiehard” and has also shared a clip

“India strongly condemns these wanton acts of destruction and desecration of the holy place . we call upon the Government of Pakistan to take immediate steps to ensure the safety, security and welfare of the members of the Sikh community,” stated the government as it condemned the violence at Nankana Sahib Gurudwara.

The Pakistan’s Foreign Office has said that the scuffle and the altercation that happened in the city of Nankana Sahib on Friday was between two Muslim groups which started on a minor incident at the tea-stall which was immediately intervened by the District Administration and arrested the accused. The Pakistan Foreign Office added saying that, “Most importantly, the Gurudwara remains untouched and undamaged.”
