Man Enters Former Jammu CM Farook Abdullah's Home, Shot Dead

A man has been shot dead by the security forces when he rammed his car into the residence of former Chief Minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah in Jammu on Saturday morning.

"The intruder breached the main gate and went inside. He had a scuffle with the duty officers there. The duty officer was also injured. After that, he entered the residence. There has been some sort of damage to the articles over there. Subsequently, he was shot dead," said Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Vivek Gupta.

According to the police, it was a case of forced entry, and the intruder was not carrying any weapons.

Police said it is investigating the matter. The area has been sealed and the searches have been launched.

Abdullah's son Omar Abdullah, who is as well a former chief and NC vice-president, wrote on Twitter that the initial reports suggest the intruder was able to gain entry through the front door and into the upper lobby of the house.

"Further details are awaited as the security personnel carry out the anti-sabotage checks and ascertain the background of the person who was able to force his way into the house," Omar Abdullah wrote on Twitter.
