China Tells Donald Trump to stop Twitter

China had slammed US President-elect Donald Trump over his behavior to use Twitter for conducting international diplomacy in a commentary published by the country's official news agency Xinhua.

Donald Trump has earned a reputation for making unpredictable declarations and statements on Twitter that often depart from long-standing US policies and has made so many controversial statements about China.

"The obsession with 'Twitter' is unpleasant," said the bylined commentary, which has only appeared in the agency's Chinese website. Xinhua is the largest and most influential of China's media.

"It is a formally accepted that diplomacy is not a child's play -- and even less is it business dealing. As a former American Secretary of Madeleine Albright said, Twitter should not be a tool for foreign policy," the commentary, which was published this week, said.

Albright served under former President Bill Clinton and was a vocal supporter of democratic Hillary Clinton rival of Donald Trump.

Donald Trump Tweeted on late Monday, that China was not working enough to check with its nuclear-armed neighbor North Korea.

Donald Trump has used Twitter to accuse China for keeping its currency artificially low and posturing military in the South China Sea and also announced that he would have spoken directly with Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen -- upending a long-standing US policy.

Trumps Assault on American Intelligence

China's official reaction to Trump was relatively muted.

The Foreign Ministry said that it was "seriously concerned" after Donald Trump questioned whether the America should keep its position that Taiwan is part of "one China."

It is not just China that Trump has targeted in his tweets.

In the past one day alone, Trump has tweeted on the delay in an intelligence briefing upon "so-called 'Russian hacking in Presidential elections '" -- "perhaps more time needed to build a case. Very strange!"
