According to the information, the Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) will be held from November 3 to 5. A senior official said close to 4,000 delegates from across the country and 1,500 foreigners would take part in the conference.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the preparations. The Ministers and heads of delegations of as many as 61 countries will be participating in the conference to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister on November 3.

An official said the conference was a step towards establishing India’s supremacy in the region in effectively handling disasters.

Established in 2005, the AMCDRR is a biennial conference jointly organized by different Asian countries and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.
