Suicide attack in Peshawar, five killed

At least one security guard killed and several others injured when four heavily-armed suicide bombers attacked a Christian neighborhood in northwestern Pakistan. All four attackers were killed in the gunfire between attackers and security forces, the Army spokesman Lt. General Asim Bajwa said in a message on social network Twitter said.

The area is near Warsak Dam, in the Khyber tribal region 20 km northwest of the city of Peshawar, an official at the scene said.

The Pakistan army said in a statement, that, "Four suicide bombers with arms and ammunition entered the Christian Colony at Warsak after hitting a security guard at 5.50 am (00:50 GMT)."

"Security forces promptly responded and surrounded the area. Exchange of fire took place and all four terrorists were killed," it said, adding that two paramilitary soldiers, a policeman and two security guards were injured in the gunfight. The "situation is under control," the statement added.

"Terrorist attacked Christian Colony Warsak Road, Peshawar. Security forces promptly responded. All 4 suicide bombers killed. Search in progress," Director General Inter-services Public Relations, Asim Bajwa tweeted.
