On Friday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Pepsico chairperson and chief executive officer Indra Nooyi jointly inaugurated company's Rs.1200 crore Greenfield production unit, at Sri City in Chittoor district.

This production unit is spread over 86 acres, occupying the largest manufacturing facility provider of the beverages in the country. It is the first such facility in the 14 years. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Nooyi said for the benefit of 32000 farmers across the state, the plant would be made a hub for sourcing mango pulp.

“PepsiCo company is investing in India for more than 25 years and as we move on further for the next 25 years, the commitment is going to be much stronger than ever” she added, indicating that Andhra Pradesh is one of the richest consumer belts in the country.

Nooyi said “The plant has one production line now, which will be increased to nine in the next five years,” and added that 23 per cent of employees at the new plant were women, which was double the company’s average.

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu promised that Chennai-Nellore-Tirupathi region would be developed as industrial region and ended promising an airport at Nellore.

D. Shivakumar Pepsico India chairman and CEO, Sri City chairman Srini Raju and Managing Director Sanna Reddy were few who took part in the inauguration function.

Hope this Production unit comes out giving good profits to the farmers and helping them to improve their livelihood and also hope Pepsico stabilizes its name as the largest manufacturing facility.
